The fable of the 97 candles began long ago. It was a time when candle making had just begun. The Derpson family line had originally discovered the ability to create the waxy candles of goodness. The Derpsons happily made their candles, for the demand was high, with abundance. One quiet night something strange happened in the candle shop. Great Grandaddy Jeromiah Johnson the Fourth (JJ4 for short) noticed a strange glowing around the wax holding area. Upon closer inspection, it seemed that a customer that had been practicing forbidden magic had accidentally dropped a item of amazingly strong magical power into the vad of wax. The wax had been infused with the power of one-thousand punches to the groin. Gods cried when they saw the wax in its glory. J4 quickly began to craft candles out of the glowing substance that was once normal wax. He worked long into the night forming the finest candles that he had ever created. Originally, 100 candles were made from the amazing material. The material bound itself to the Derpson family. Holding such unimaginable waxy goodness, the Derpsons made it their life goal to keep the candles of power safe. The Derpson blood was a curse and a blessing. Keeping the candles safe was not always such an easy task. Some of the Derpson’s competitors in the candle buisness had heard fables of these amazing candles. The competitors decided it was time for them to get their hands on the candles. They ruthlessly slaughtered the two Derpson family bodyguards that were protecting the candles. Upon touching the candles, they felt a slight burn in their fingers. They did not mind it, and all picked up a candle. Three candles to be exact. The candles suddenly vanished from sight after being held by a non-Derpson for long enough. Something was wrong. The guards that were once killed rose from the dead with the fury of one-thousand angry weaboos. After the competitor’s were disposed of by the animated guards, the bodies returned to normal. The next day, the Derpsons found the mess that had become of the candle vault. The curse of the power that the candles hold was suddenly clear to them. From that day on, the heir of the Derpson family must carry all 97 candles with him. If the candles were to leave a radius of a few miles, they would return to his proximity. Unable to get rid of the candles from their family, the Derpsons must keep the foolish away from abusing the power of the candles.
